You will be involved in the entire development lifecycle, from early prototype testing through design, assembly, qualification of a production propulsion system. This is a hands-on role encompassing design, build, and test. You will also drive propulsion-level ConOps and collaborate in evolving the simulation toolsets used to assess capabilities and performance. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our mission to deliver high-quality Earth imagery that benefits society. Your role involves a combination of deep technical expertise, systems-level understanding and thinking, communication skills, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the success of our space mission.

  • Define hardware architecture and lead trade studies for propulsion components

  • Collaborate closely with structures and mechanisms, thermal, software, AI&T, and mission operations teams to integrate and test propulsion functionality hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and mission testbeds

  • Define propulsion-level ConOps and own the modeling, simulation, and performance analysis of the propulsion system including thrusters, flow control components, tanks, instrumentation, tubing and fittings

  • Develop and implement control laws for thrusters, flow control devices, tanks; own the overall system sizing and propellant technical budgets

  • Manage a small team of propulsion engineers, guiding technical execution, prioritizing tasks, and providing mentorship

  • Participate in design reviews, flight readiness reviews, and contribute to risk assessment and mitigation plans

  • Support flight operations and anomaly resolution with in-depth analysis and post-launch tuning of thruster operations

  • Contribute to company-wide system architecture discussions and roadmap planning from a propulsion perspective

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field

  • 8+ years of relevant experience (operational satellite propulsion development is a plus; other spacecraft or launch vehicle propulsion development is acceptable)

  • Strong proficiency in designing, analyzing, building, testing spacecraft propulsion systems (electric propulsion is preferred, cryogenic, or hypergolic propulsion is acceptable)

  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks and good command of GD&T

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $165,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on previous experience. Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
