What you will do: 

The Senior Harnessing Engineer will possess experience in wiring harness design and fabrication within the aerospace industry and requires strong technical expertise in electrical engineering, a deep understanding of wiring systems, and hands-on experience with harness fabrication processes.  You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and test electrical systems for aerospace applications, ensuring the highest levels of performance, safety, and compliance.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of electrical wiring harnesses for aerospace systems, ensuring all designs meet industry standards and project requirements 

  • Oversee/perform the fabrication and assembly of electrical wiring harnesses, ensuring proper selection of materials and components for maximum reliability and performance 

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, assisting with complex technical challenges and promoting best practices in wiring harness design and fabrication 

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, systems, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of electrical harnesses into the overall aerospace system 

  • Lead testing activities and troubleshoot wiring systems to ensure functionality, compliance with safety standards, and durability in extreme aerospace environments 

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, technical reports, and design specifications 

  • Ensure all designs meet relevant aerospace and electrical industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DO-160, AS9100) and work with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance 

  • Stay updated on new technologies and industry trends in wiring harnesses and aerospace systems, incorporating innovative solutions to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and performance 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field 

  • 5+ years experience in electrical engineering with a focus on wiring harness design and fabrication in the aerospace industry 

  • Expertise in wiring harness design software (e.g., SOLIDWORKS Electrical, Zuken E3, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools) 

  • Proficiency in cabling, connectors, and electrical systems integration 

  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace standards (MIL-STD, DO-160, etc.) and reliability testing 

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex electrical systems and troubleshoot issues 

  • Experience with environmental testing for aerospace applications (vibration, thermal, etc.) 

  • Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS or other aerospace CAD tools is a plus 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of working in a team environment and presenting technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders 

  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE) or similar certifications (preferred) 

Compensation: 

The salary range for this role is $135,000-$175,000 per year, depending on previous experience.  Pay ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.  Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
