Senior ADCS / GNC Engineer
We are seeking a highly experienced ADCS/GNC Subsystem Lead Engineer to join our aerospace engineering team. The role is responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and testing of the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) subsystem of an orbital spacecraft. This role requires a deep understanding of aerospace engineering principles, particularly in control systems, orbital mechanics, and navigation technologies, as well as proven team management and leadership skills.
The Technical Lead synchronizes the GNC capabilities with the Product Group, ensuring that the GNC requirements support the imaging products. They are responsible for the complete development lifecycle, including validation and verification of all requirements.
The Technical Lead strives to build a high-performance team and efficient workflows, resulting in timely deliveries to the space vehicle.
Responsibilities- Lead the development of the Guidance and Navigation Control (GNC) system for an orbital spacecraft by researching novel control strategies, implementing selected design methods, and coordinating software and hardware testing.
- Represent EOI’s GNC team by leveraging leadership and communication skills to foster an environment of successful teamwork and collaboration.
- Ensure spacecraft success by managing spacecraft-level and subsystem-level requirements, communicating design trades to other teams, and delivering on GNC requirements in a timely manner.
- Support flight software mission goals by working closely with EOI’s flight software team to successfully implement GNC algorithms on flight hardware.
- Secure mission success by coordinating and implementing comprehensive FDIR strategies.
- Ensure consistency and quality of GNC algorithms by overseeing the execution of comprehensive V&V plans for both software and hardware.
- Ensure ongoing mission success by providing GNC support during mission planning, satellite integration, launch, and operations phases. This includes creating operational procedures, troubleshooting anomalies, and optimizing system performance post-launch.
- Coordinate GNC team success by enacting effective project management strategies, collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to align project goals, and maintaining GNC team technical documentation.
Requirements
- Master's degree in engineering, computer science, related field, or equivalent; PhD preferred
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace engineering development on flight projects
- 10+ years of experience in precision control system design
- 10+ years of experience in software development for control systems
- Proven track record of developing and testing GNC algorithms in an aerospace environment
- Demonstrated mastery of spacecraft dynamics and control theory
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Extensive experience with mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- 2+ years in a team lead role
Compensation
- The anticipated compensation for this position is $145,000-$185,000/yr, depending on previous experience.
