Ground Segment Lead

EOI Space is developing and deploying a network of satellites in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) to provide ultra-high-resolution Earth imagery. We aim to deliver timely and actionable data for commercial and defense applications.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Ground Segment Lead to drive the development and readiness of EOI’s ground systems in preparation for our first mission and beyond.
What you will do:
In this role you will lead a cross-functional team of internal staff and contractors to deliver ground software, mission operations capability, and develop and maintain an automation-first high-performing Mission Operations Center (MOC). You will work closely with the Director of Ground Segment to manage cost, schedule, and technical execution—ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and operational needs.
Responsibilities:
Ground System Development & Operations
Support development of ground system architecture, requirements, and CONOPS
Oversee end-to-end ground software development (in-house and subcontracted), including mission control, planning & scheduling, antenna/backhaul, image processing, and order management
Manage the integration and testing of ground systems to ensure operational readiness
Build and maintain the product support framework including collection planning, order management, and customer support workflows
Readiness for Launch & Operations
Ensure MOC software and personnel are fully prepared to support LEOP, commissioning, and ongoing operations
Manage ground segment readiness milestones and launch campaign coordination
Lead cross-functional integration planning for software builds into operational environments
Leadership & Cross Functional Management
Support Director in building and leading a high-performing team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and innovation
Support strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation · Collaborate with teams across engineering, SW, product, sales, and finance to align priorities and ensure mission success
Maintain compliance with internal and government regulations and standards. · Provide technical support for customer contracts involving ground systems
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field;10+ years of experience in aerospace or satellite operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
Demonstrated experience with modern, cloud-based and automated mission operations environments
Demonstrated experience leading development and operations of ground software systems and scaling satellite constellations
Strong communication and team-building skills; ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams
Familiarity with industry standards, mission operations best practices, and regulatory environments
Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and using emerging technologies to drive operational excellence
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $120,000-$170,000 per year, depending on previous experience. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
Work Location:
This is an onsite role to be located in Louisville, CO. Some travel may be required to Seattle, WA.
